PERI-MENOPAUSE / MENOPAUSE

Women's health

Usually sometime in your 40s, you will begin the transition from your reproductive years to menopause. The length of your cycles will start to vary and you’ll begin to skip periods. You may experience hot flashes due to fluctuating estrogen production by your ovaries and may have difficulty sleeping. Menopause is the natural cessation of ovarian function and menstruation. It can occur between the ages of 42 and 56 but usually occurs around the age of 51, when the ovaries stop producing eggs and estrogen levels decline. Progesterone is consistently low during these peri-menopausal years, which is a result of poor egg quality and anovulatory cycles. This change in a woman’s hormones produces and vast array of symptoms and can be very disruptive to quality of life.

Our doctors are members of the North American Menopause Society (NAMS), and several have written the NAMS certification exam and are listed as certified menopause practitioners with NAMS. They strive to keep current with the latest recommendations in peri-menopausal/ menopausal care, and offer women real solutions to manage the disruptive symptoms that often present at this time of life.
