MMR (Measles/ Mumps and Rubella) Vaccines Available
The recent outbreak of Measles in Vancouver has brought the concern of immunity and current vaccination status to the forefront. Currently, those who have received two doses of the MMR vaccination are deemed “immune” against this virus.
To site BC Centre for Disease Control “Consider as immune those persons who have had any of the following”:
- Measles; consider as immune
- Birth date before January 1, 1970
- Birth date on or after January 1, 1970, and laboratory evidence of measles immunity;
or
- documentation of 2 doses of a live measles vaccine at 12 months of age and older and given at least 4 weeks apart.
Dr. Karen Parmar, ND and Dr. Gurdev Parmar, ND are board certified in immunizations with the CNPBC, for individuals 5 years of age and older. In conjunction with Pure Integrative Pharmacy, Fort Langley, Integrated Health Clinic will be offering MMR vaccinations for individuals who are in need of the second dose, or whom have never before been vaccinated.
